ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators, represents 42 electricity transmission system operators (TSOs) from 35 countries across Europe. ENTSO-E was established and given legal mandates by the EU's Third Legislative Package for the Internal Energy Market in 2009, which aims at further liberalising the gas and electricity markets in the EU. ENTSO-E is committed to develop the most suitable responses to the challenge of a changing power system while maintaining security of supply. Innovation, a market based approach, customer focus, stakeholder focus, security of supply, flexibility, and regional cooperation are key to ENTSO-E's agenda.

European Distribution System Operators for Smart Grids (EDSO) gathers leading European electricity distribution system operators (DSOs) cooperating to bring smart grids from vision to reality. The development of smart grids is a prerequisite to reaching the EU's ambitious energy, climate, security of supply and internal market objectives. EDSO is the key interface between the DSOs and the European institutions, and is focused on RD&D, policy and member state regulation to support this development.

The OSGP Alliance, founded in 2006 as the Energy Services Network Association (ESNA), is an independent global, not-for-profit association that promotes the adoption of the Open Smart Grid Protocol (OSGP) and related services and infrastructure for smart grid applications. Members include utilities, software, hardware and service providers, and solution integrators that share a common goal and vision for promoting open standards for energy demand side management, smart grid and smart metering systems.

The ETP SmartGrids, also called European Technology Platform for Electricity Networks of the Future offers strategic guidance for its stakeholders on the development of technologies related to Smart Grids that will address the future needs of electricity networks in the European electricity supply system.

The ETP Smartgrids mission is to:
- Mobilise the expertise resident in the stakeholders and exerts its influence through efficient dissemination of the strategic agendas developed.
- Contribute to realise the SET Plan Integrated Roadmap vision

The stakeholders active within the ETP Smartgrids include: European system operators at distribution and transmission level; manufacturers of power equipment, solutions and services providers; the relevant parts of the ICT industry; research organisations; regulators and academia, the European Commission and legislators.

India Smart Grid Forum is a public private partnership initiative of Ministry of Power, Govt of India for accelerated development of smart grids in India. ISGF’s mandate is to assist MoP and related GoI institutions on smart grid policies and programs. ISGF work closely with government institutions such as CEA, CPRI, CERC, NSGM and NCIIPC; ministries such as MNRE, DoT, MoUD, MoHI etc and other stakeholders like state governments, electric utilities and electricity regulatory commissions. ISGF is in operation for last 4 years and have played pivotal role in formulation of key policy initiatives of Govt of India on Smart Grids. ISGF is hosting the third edition of India Smart Grid Week (ISGW 2017), Conference and Exhibition on Smart Grid and Smart Cities, from 08-10 March 2017 in Manekshaw Center, New Delhi.
